Pengaruh Model ape Kooperatif Tipe Paired Story Telling Berbasis Kearifan Lokal Terhadap Kemampuan Berbicara Peserta Didik Kelas V SDN Mumbulsari 01 Jember

Abstract

This research was motivated by the low speaking skills of fifth-grade students, which stem from a lack of self-confidence, limited vocabulary, and difficulties in generating ideas and structuring a coherent storyline. Furthermore, Indonesian language instruction has not yet utilized innovative models linked to the surrounding environment. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of a Paired Storytelling cooperative learning model based on local wisdom on the speaking skills of fifth-grade students at SDN Mumbulsari 01 in Jember. The research method used was a quasi-experimental quantitative study with a nonequivalent control group design. The study population consisted of all fifth- grade students at SDN Mumbulsari 01 in Jember. Sampling was conducted using non-random (purposive/convenient) sampling, designating Class 5A (23 students) and Class 5B (23 students) as the experimental and control groups, respectively. Data collection methods included performance tests (speaking) via pretests and posttests, interviews, and documentation. The curriculum focused on the local wisdom of Jember’s petik laut tradition. The results of the data analysis show a significant improvement in speaking skills in the experimental class after receiving treatment using the Paired Storytelling model based on local wisdom, compared to the control class that used conventional methods. This is evidenced by the experimental class’s higher average final score than that of the control class. The conclusion of this study is that the application of the Paired Storytelling cooperative learning model based on local wisdom.
