Introduction: The surface roughness of acrylic soft denture liner is one factor that can increase Candida albicans colonization, which plays a role in the occurrence of denture stomatitis. Green tea leaf extract contains polyphenols as bioactive compounds that have the potential to be used as denture cleanser with minimal side effects on the surface properties of the material and are able to inhibit the growth of microorganisms. Objective: This study aims to analyze the effect of immersing acrylic soft denture liners in green tea leaf extract on changes in surface roughness. Method: The type of research used was a laboratory experiment with a post-test only control group design. A total of 30 heat-cured acrylic soft denture liner samples measuring 10 × 4mm were divided into three groups, the green tea leaf extract immersion group, the artificial saliva group, and the sodium hypochlorite group. The immersion was carried out for three days, and the immersion solution was replaced every 24 hours. The data results were analyzed using the One-way ANOVA test and followed by the Post-Hoc LSD test. Results: There was no significant difference in surface roughness between the green tea leaf extract immersion group and the artificial saliva and sodium hypochlorite groups, but there was a significant difference between the artificial saliva and sodium hypochlorite immersion groups. Conclusion: Soaking acrylic soft denture liners in green tea leaf extract (Camellia sinensis) resulted in a lower average surface roughness compared to soaking in 0.5% sodium hypochlorite. However, the difference was not statistically significant.
