Analisis Efektivitas Penerapan Low Impact Development (LID) dengan Rain Barrel di Perumahan Bumi Kaliwates Regency, Kabupaten Jember

Abstract

Rapid urbanization has increased stormwater runoff and reduced infiltration areas, causing drainage systems to fail in accommodating peak discharges. Bumi Kaliwates Regency Residential Area, Jember Regency, experiences inundation due to insufficient drainage capacity, aggravated by external inflow from the Bedadung River watershed. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of Rain Barrel as a Low Impact Development (LID) strategy using EPA SWMM 5.2 hydrological modeling. Rainfall analysis used 20 years of data (2006–2025) with the Log Pearson III distribution at a 2-year return period. Three Rain Barrel capacity variations of 1,050, 3,100, and 5,100 liters were simulated across 246 residential units. Results show 8 inundation points under existing conditions, with the largest flood volume of 834 m³ at junction JN78. Rain Barrel implementation reduced total runoff by 4,24%, 12,73%, and 21,35%, total runoff at the outlet decreased by an average of 0.67%, 3.02%, and 6.99%, and total flood volume by 59.39%, 59.58%, and 60.45% for each respective variation. Larger Rain Barrel capacity yields greater runoff reduction.
