Abstract

Crocidolomia pavonana F. is one of the important pests that attack plants from the Brassicaceae family. If left uncontrolled, this pest will cause more than 80% plant damage. This study aims to determine the effect of the application of botanical insecticides from papaya leaf extract (Carica papaya), siam weed (Chromolaena odorata), and a combination of both, and to determine the effectiveness of the combination of botanical insecticides from papaya leaf extract (Carica papaya) and siam weed (Chromolaena odorata). This study was conducted from March to December 2025 at the Plant Protection Technology Laboratory, Plant Protection Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Jember. The results showed that the botanical insecticides papaya leaf extract (Carica papaya), siam weed (Chromolaena odorata), and a combination of both significantly affected the mortality of Crocidolomia pavonana F. larvae. Treatments P8 (8% combination) and P9 (10% combination) resulted in 63.33% and 83.33% mortality of Crocidolomia pavonana larvae, respectively, with an LT50 value of 103.39 JSA. The combination index calculation yielded values of 0.43 and 0.15, indicating a strong synergistic interaction. Therefore, the combination application is considered effective in increasing mortality compared to single-ingredient botanical insecticides.
