This study aims to analyze the career trajectory and social impact of Megawati Hangestri Pertiwi as a professional volleyball athlete from Jember within the national and international sports arena. The focus of this research is not only on individual athletic achievement, but also on how Megawati’s success contributes to the formation of regional identity and influences the structure of athlete development at the local level. This research employs a qualitative approach using a biographical method, positioning Megawati’s life experiences as the primary object of analysis. The theoretical framework applied in this study is Pierre Bourdieu’s theory of social practice, particularly the concepts of field, habitus, and capital, which include economic capital, cultural capital, social capital, and symbolic capital. Research data were obtained through in-depth interviews with Megawati Hangestri Pertiwi and relevant informants, supported by documentation and mass media sources. Data analysis was conducted using a descriptive-analytical method by linking empirical findings with Bourdieu’s theoretical concepts. The findings indicate that Megawati Hangestri Pertiwi’s success in the sports arena is not solely determined by economic capital or adequate facilities, but is largely supported by the accumulation of symbolic and social capital gained through achievements, recognition, and networks within professional volleyball. Her achievements have contributed to changing perceptions of athletes from peripheral regions and have strengthened Jember’s position as a region with significant potential in volleyball athlete development. Furthermore, Megawati’s success has generated structural impacts on athlete coaching systems, awareness of athletic regeneration, and the construction of regional identity. This study concludes that Megawati Hangestri Pertiwi is not merely a product of the national sports structure, but also a social agent capable of reproducing and transforming that structure through her practices and achievements. Therefore, sport can be understood as a field of social mobility that enables individuals from peripheral regions to gain recognition and strategic positions within broader social structures.
