Abstract

Overburden removal is one of the main activities in coal mining. Overburden production can be influenced by several things such as waiting time, match factor imbalance, and the length of the cycle time. PT. XYZ, which is a contractor for coal mining in East Kalimantan, has a problem in the form of not achieving the amount of overburden production in February. PT. XYZ's overburden production volume for that month was only 119,529 bcm with a target of 193,700 bcm. In this study, improvements will be made to optimize the amount of overburden production using the linear programming method with the simplex approach. Other supporting methods used to achieve maximum production value are match factor analysis to determine the optimal combination and gap analysis to see the difference in value generated after improvements compared to before. The results of the linear programming method with the simplex approach and match factor analysis is applying 2 combinations in one fleet. The first combination is 1 unit of Sany SY500H with 3 units of ADT Volvo A40G which produces an overburden value of 116,659.2 bcm and the second combination is 1 unit of Sany SY500H with 5 units of DT Isuzu FVZ285 which produces an overburden value of 77,821.8 bcm. The two combinations produced a total overburden of 194,482 bcm which has reached the target with a match factor of 1.01 which is very close to the ideal value. The results of the gap analysis show that the production gap value fell from 38% to 0% and the match factor gap value fell from 36% to 1%. The conclusion of this study is that the amount of overburden production can be increased by determining the optimal combination using the linearprogramming method with a simplex approach and match factor analysis.
