Pengaruh Model Pembelajaran Kooperatif Tipe Jigsaw terhadap Hasil Belajar IPA pada Siswa Kelas IV UPTD SPF SDN Taman 1 Bondowoso

Abstract

This research is motivated by the need for science learning in elementary schools that is not only centered on teacher explanations, but also provides space for students to observe, discuss, explain concepts, and relate the material to everyday life. In the material on the state of matter and its changes, students often have difficulty understanding the process of changes in state scientifically if learning takes place in one direction. This study aims to test the effect of the Jigsaw type cooperative learning model on science learning outcomes in fourth grade students of UPTD SPF SDN Taman 1 Bondowoso. The research used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental type and a nonequivalent control group design. The research subjects were fourth grade students who were divided into experimental and control classes. The experimental class received learning using the Jigsaw model through the stages of original groups, expert groups, teaching each other sub-materials, class synthesis, and individual evaluation, while the control class followed conventional learning or learning commonly used by teachers. Data were collected through learning outcome tests in the form of pretests and posttests, observations of learning implementation, and documentation. The test instrument was compiled based on material indicators of the state of matter and its changes, including the properties of solids, liquids, and gases as well as changes in melting, freezing, evaporation, condensation, sublimation, and crystallization. Data were analyzed using prerequisite tests, N-gain tests, independent sample t-tests or nonparametric tests according to data characteristics, and effect sizes. The results of the study are expected to provide empirical evidence regarding the effectiveness of the Jigsaw model in improving science learning outcomes and become an alternative active learning strategy for elementary school teachers.
