Abstract
This study discussed issues related to low collaboration skills among junior high school students in science (IPA) learning. Previous observations and studies, such as Sunbanu et al. (2019), found that only 42% of 24 students were able to collaborate well. Furthermore, Nurjanah et al. (2023) and Octaviana et al. (2022) reported low to moderate levels of collaborative skills with n-gain scores ranging from 0.19 to 0.42. Factors influencing the low collaborative skills of students included ineffective group discussions, lack of cooperation, and low accountability. The main objective of this study was to develop an open-ended problem-based student worksheet (LKPD) to improve collaboration skills. This study aimed to describe the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of the developed LKPD. This study used the Research and Development (R&D) methodology, specifically using the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). The LKPD focused on the classification of living organisms, a topic often considered complex by students. The results indicated that the developed LKPD was highly valid, with an average validity score of 89.4%. The practicality score reached an average of 85%. Furthermore, the LKPD was proven effective in enhancing collaboration skills, as evidenced by a high total n-gain score of 0.74 and a good student response rate with a score of 93.2%. These findings indicated that open-ended problem-based LKPD was suitable for science education to foster collaboration skills, promote critical thinking, and creativity in junior high school students.
