Rasionalitas Karyawati dalam Menyikapi Larangan Berhijab Bagi Frontliner Perempuan: Studi pada Fox Coffee and Roastery

Abstract

This research employs a field research approach through interviews, observation, and documentation, with female frontliners as primary informants and kitchen crew as additional informants. This approach is used to obtain detailed and in-depth field data by observing phenomena directly on-site. The technique utilized is descriptive qualitative analysis. This study applies the Social Action Theory narrated by Max Weber. This theory explains that human behavior consists of actions with subjective meaning, where actions are carried out with awareness, specific goals, and consideration. The results indicate that female employees utilize instrumental rationality in facing the policy. Economic considerations, professionalism, job requirements, and life demands are the main factors driving them to continue working despite having to remove their hijab. However, for some hijabi employees, this policy creates identity conflicts and religious dilemmas. Meanwhile, employees who previously did not wear the hijab tend to accept the rule without hindrance.Differences in perspective also emerged, where some employees view this policy as a restriction on religious freedom, while others consider it a corporate professional standard. This study concludes that employee rationality is formed through the interaction of these factors. This research emphasizes the importance of company policies that are more sensitive to the diversity of employee identities to avoid internal and social conflicts within the work environment
