Abstract

SW Gas Field has production wells, namely SWK-01, SWK-02, and SWK-05. SW Gas Field is a gas field with unconsolidated reservoir characteristics, with the fluid produced being retrograde condensate gas, which has the potential to produce sand during the production process. This sand production can cause erosion in the surface piping system, which risks reducing the integrity of production facilities. This study aims to determine the rate and total erosion in surface pipes using an integrated production modeling method based on IPM (Integrated Production Modeling) software and DNV RP O501 guidelines. The model built includes reservoirs, wells, and surface networks, and is validated through a history matching process. Erosion detection is carried out both manually and automatically using the RESOLVE module. Manual detection shows an erosion rate of 0.000013 mpy, with material loss or total erosion of 0.00026 mils (equivalent to 0.0000026 inches) for a prediction period of 20 years. Meanwhile, automatic detection resulted in an erosion rate of 0.000022 mpy and a total erosion of 0.000213 mils (equivalent to 0.00000213 inches). These results indicate that the erosion rate in the SW Gas field is very low and far below the safe limit set by industry standards, which is 0.001 inches per year (or 1 mpy) according to API RP 14E. The results also show that the erosion rate and total vary depending on operational parameters, such as sand flow rate, pipe ID, and separator pressure. In addition, a sensitivity analysis was conducted to identify the dominant factors affecting erosion. This study is expected to contribute to efforts to mitigate erosion risks and improve operational safety and efficiency in the oil and gas industry.
