Abstract

This study discusses sentiment analysis of YouTube user comments regarding the initial changes introduced in the latest Genshin Impact patch. Patch updates in online games often generate various reactions from players, including criticism, support, and neutral responses. YouTube was selected as the object of this study because it is one of the platforms used by developers to deliver official announcements related to patch updates as well as other information about Genshin Impact. In addition, YouTube is also utilized by players to express their opinions through the comment section of official videos, making it a valuable source of feedback for developers in improving the game. The research data were collected by scraping YouTube comments relevant to discussions of the initial patch changes in Genshin Impact. The collected comments were then filtered to include only English-language comments. Subsequently, the data underwent text preprocessing stages, including case folding, cleaning, and stopword removal. The processed data were analyzed using sentiment analysis methods with the TextBlob, SentiStrength, and VADER libraries. The results obtained from these three methods were then combined to produce a final classification of user opinions into positive, negative, neutral, or uncertain sentiment categories. The results of the sentiment analysis were used to determine players’ overall attitudes toward the initial patch changes and to identify the aspects of the update that received the most responses from the community. This study is expected to provide an objective overview of player perceptions regarding game update policies and to serve as an evaluation reference for developers in improving the quality of future Genshin Impact updates. Keywords: Sentiment Analysis, YouTube Comments, Genshin Impact, Game Patch Updates, TextBlob, SentiStrength, VADER, Player Perception.
