dc.description.abstractpodoptera litura is one of the constraints in tobacco cultivation, as this pest can reduce plant quality and productivity. Most farmers rely heavily on chemical insecticides in their practices. Continuous use of chemical insecticides potentially leads to pest resistance, environmental pollution, and negative health impacts. Therefore, an environmentally friendly alternative for pest control through the utilization of botanical insecticides is required. This study aimed to determine the interaction and the single effects of different types of botanical insecticides and application time intervals on the control of Spodoptera litura in tobacco plants. The research was conducted in the Greenhouse of Agrotechnopark, Universitas Jember, using a completely randomized design (CRD) factorial with two factors. The first factor was the type of botanical insecticide, consisting of J1: 4% betel nut extract, J2: 15% noni fruit extract, and J3: 20% soursop leaf extract. The second factor was the application time interval, consisting of P1: 3 days and P2: 6 days. Each treatment combination was replicated four times, resulting in 24 experimental units. The observed variables included attack intensity, plant height, and the number of leaves. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) and followed by Duncan’s Multiple Range Test (DMRT) at a 5% significance level if significant differences were found. The results showed that the interaction between the type of botanical insecticide and the application interval had no significant effect on all observed variables. The type of botanical insecticide had no significant effect on attack intensity and plant height but had a highly significant effect on the number of leaves. The application interval had a significant effect on attack intensity, where the 3-day application interval resulted in lower attack intensity compared to the 6-day interval. Thus, the application of botanical insecticides every 3 days is more effective in suppressing the attack intensity of Spodoptera litura on tobacco plants.
