dc.description.abstractThe high cost of steel reinforcement is one of the primary challenges faced by low and middle-income communities in constructing simple structures, such as residential buildings. In addition to its relatively high price, the use of steel reinforcement is also environmentally unfriendly because its production process generates carbon emissions that have the potential to pollute the environment. As an alternative solution, this study developed an innovation that utilizes bamboo branches as a substitute for steel reinforcement. The objective of this study is to test the flexural strength of bamboo branch-reinforced concrete slabs and compare the results of theoretical analysis with experimental testing in the laboratory. Additionally, this study analyzes the results of flexural strength tests and the collapse characteristics of the concrete slabs. Tests were conducted on concrete slabs with various reinforcement ratios, using both bamboo and steel. The variations in bamboo branch reinforcement ratios used were 8,8%, 7,2%, and 5,6%, while the steel reinforcement ratio, for comparison was 2,1%. The test results showed that the concrete slab with an 8,8% bamboo reinforcement ratio had the highest maximum load-bearing capacity among the other bamboo reinforcement variations, averaging 3,13 tons. However, when compared to the steel-reinforced concrete slab with a 2,1% ratio, it was found that steel reinforcement had a greater load-bearing capacity, reaching 5,5 tons.
