Kemampuan Berpikir Kreatif Siswa Dalam Menyelesaikan Permasalahan Matematika Materi Barisan Dan Deret

Abstract

This study aims to describe student’s creative thinking skills in solving mathematical problems on sequences and series. This research employed qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. The subjects of this study were 36 students of class X-1 at SMA Negeri 2 Jember. The research instrument was a crative thinking ability test developed based on the indicators of fluency, flexibility, and originality. Data were collected through written tests and analyzed descriptively by categorizing students creative thinking ability into five levels, namely not creative, less creative, moderately creative, creative, and very creative. The results showed that students creative thinking ability was predominantly in the moderately creative category. Out of the 36 student’s, 9 student’ s were classified as highly creative, fulfilling all indicators. 20 student’s were moderately creative, meeting two indicators fluency and flexibility, but not demonstrating originality in problem-solving. Meanwhile, 6 student’s were less creative, meeting only one indicator, either fluency or flexibility. These student’s could solve the problem but had difficulty generating alternative solustions or new ideas, and one student’s was not creative, failing to meet any of the creative thinking indicators.
