Abstract

This study discusses forest protection efforts in TNMB. Protection efforts in TNMB are carried out due to the many factors that cause environmental damage in forest areas. Factors that cause massive forest protection efforts include cases of illegal logging, wildlife hunting, illegal encroachment, and forest fires. Forestry crime cases in TNMB are dominated by illegal logging cases. BTNMB as the party responsible for managing TNMB carries out protection efforts in several ways. Protection efforts include community empowerment, forest security or patrols, and ecosystem restoration. Protection efforts implemented by BTNMB always encourage the community of the TNMB buffer village to participate in protecting the forest area. The protection implemented also has an impact on the community living in the TNMB buffer village. The impact of the protection implemented does not only affect the integrity of the forest ecosystem. The community's economy is also affected by the protection efforts implemented by BTNMB. Protection efforts implemented since 2014 have had many impacts on the TNMB ecosystem. In 2023, to improve access to tourism in TNMB and to facilitate economic access for the communities supporting the BTNMB, the Jember Government will collaborate with the Jember Government in implementing strategic development in the form of a road to Bandealit Village.
