Abstract
Nine studentsfrom class VIII-A at SMPN 4 Jember were chosen as research subject. Creative thinking ability is an ability that students must have, using the story problems can develop students’ creative thinking ability. Students’ thinking skills can be known in the problems solving process. Students’ creative thinking ability can be seen with three indicators. Creative thinking indicators is fluency, flexibility, and originality. The level of creative thinking ability is categorized into five, level 0, level 1, level 2, level 3, and level 4. This research aims to describe students’ creative thinking abilities in solving story problem on SPLDV material. This type of research is descriptive qualitative using test and interviews to collect research data. The results showed that students in level 0 have not fulfill any indicators. Students in level 1 have fulfill fluency indicator. Students in level 2 have fulfill fluency and flexibility indicators. Students in level 3 have fulfill fluency and originality indicators. Students in level 4 have fulfill fluency, flexibility, and originality indicators
