Peningkatan Keterampilan Membacakan Berita dengan Menggunakan Model Project Based Learning (PjBL) Berbantuan Media Vlog untuk Kelas XI-1 SMAN 5 Jember

Abstract

This classroom action research aims to improve the news reading skills of eleventh-grade students at SMAN 5 Jember by implementing the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model supported by vlog media. The research was carried out in two cycles, focusing on enhancing students’ articulation, intonation, expression, and confidence in presenting news texts. The study responds to initial classroom observations indicating students' low performance in reading news aloud, mainly due to a lack of engagement and inadequate learning strategies. Through PjBL, students were actively involved in planning, scripting, and producing their own news vlogs, fostering deeper understanding and practical application of the material. The use of vlog media not only increased students’ motivation and collaboration but also aligned with their digital literacy interests. The research was conducted in two cycles. In the first cycle, 9 students (26,47%) showed improvement in their understanding of news texts through vlog media. In the second cycle, 22 students (64,71%) demonstrated significant improvement, not only in writing news texts but also in producing video vlog projects based on news texts.
