Botani Ekonomi Tanaman Sebagai Pewarna Alami Batik Di Desa Krasak Kecamatan Kedungjajang Kabupaten Lumajang dan Pemanfaatannya Sebagai Buku Non Teks

Abstract

Natural dyes are an environmentally friendly alternative to synthetic dyes in the batik industry. Krasak Village, Kedungjajang District, Lumajang Regency, has considerable potential for utilizing various plant species as natural dyes for batik production. This study aimed to identify the plant species used as natural batik dyes, describe the processing methods, explain the sources of raw materials, analyze the economic value of natural dye production, and develop a validated non-textbook based on the research findings. This study employed a descriptive qualitative method conducted at Sasa Collection Production House in Krasak Village, Kedungjajang District, Lumajang Regency. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Informants were selected using a purposive sampling technique, while the data were analyzed using descriptive analysis, economic analysis, and non-textbook validation analysis. The results showed that eight plant species were utilized as natural batik dyes, namely teak, mahogany, indigofera, mango, ketepeng, jalawe, mangosteen, and sappanwood. The dye production process included extraction, dyeing, and fixation using color-fixing agents. The economic analysis revealed that the production cost was IDR 100,000 to produce approximately 10 liters of natural dye solution, resulting in an economic value of IDR 10,000 per liter. The developed non-textbook obtained validation scores of 80.3%, 83%, and 85%, with an average score of 82.8%, indicating that it is categorized as highly feasible as an educational resource on natural dye plants for batik.
