Abstract

Low critical thinking abilities of students are a problem in Indonesia. Based on the observation results at SMA Negeri 1 Arjasa, the physics learning process used is already varied, but some students have not developed critical thinking abilities. This is because of the lack of feedback, which leads to students not developing critical thinking abilites. The PjBL model has been widely implemented with positive results. The objective of this research is to analyze the critical thinking skills of students through project-based learning on DC circuits. The type of research used is descriptive qualitative. The research was conducted at SMA Negeri 1 Arjasa, Jember Regency. The research respondents were students of class XII-3. Data collection techniques used were observation, LKPD, and interviews. The observation and LKPD data were analyzed through three stages of analysis, while the interview data was analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model analysis technique. The results showed that the students' critical thinking abilities were in the good category with the details of the indicators as follows: the elementary clarification indicator was very good, the building basic support indicator was very poor, the inferring indicator was very good, the advanced clarification indicator was good, and the strategies and tactics indicator was very good. Students' critical thinking abilities can be fostered through the syntax of the project-based learning model.
