Analisis Berfikir Mekanistik Siswa SMA Tentang Perpindahan Panas Melalui Percobaan alat solar dryer

Abstract

Mechanistic thinking is an important higher-order thinking skill in physics education, but it has not been empirically explored in the context of locally developed technology-based learning media in Indonesia. This study aims to analyze and describe the mechanistic thinking skills of high school students in understanding heat transfer through a solar dryer experiment. A qualitative descriptive method with a single case study design was used. The research subjects consisted of 20 eleventh-grade students at Arjasa State Senior High School. Data were collected through individual written tests, group Student Worksheets (LKPD), and semi-structured interviews. The analysis was conducted based on seven indicators of mechanistic thinking developed: describing target phenomena (DTP), identifying setting conditions (ISC), identifying entities (IE), identifying activities (IA), identifying entity properties (IPE), identifying entity organizations (IOE), and chains (C). The results of the solar dryer experiment in physicslearning on heat transfer can be used to analyze mechanistic skills. The DTP, IE, and IA indicators were achieved by the majority of students (≥14 out of 20), while ISC was in the low category (12 out of 20), and IPE, IOE, and Chaining were very low (3, 2, and 0 out of 20). Most students had difficulty connecting the physical properties of components to their functions, understanding the relationships between components in the system, and constructing a sequential heat-transfer mechanism from the beginning to the end of the drying process. In general, students found it easier to understand concrete, observable aspects than abstract, systemic, and cause-and-effect aspects.
