| dc.description.abstract | Microplastics are plastic particles measuring less than 5 mm that can contaminate water sources and the environment. This study aims to identify the abundance and characteristics of microplastics in the Antirogo Irrigation Area (D.I) and agricultural land in Tegal Gede, Sumbersari sub-district, Jember Regency and to analyze the relationship between pH and temperature with microplastic abundance. The types of samples taken were water and sediment samples. These samples were taken from 7 sample points, namely in irrigation channels and agricultural land. Analysis was carried out using a Leica EZ4 Stereo microscope with 8x magnification to analyze shape and color and imageJ to analyze size. Data analysis was carried out using the Poisson regression method for water samples and negative binomial for sediment samples. The results showed that the abundance of microplastics for water samples ranged from 200-402 particles/L, while in sediment samples it was 142-561 particles/100 gram. The dominant form in water samples was fiber with a particle number ranging from 1046 particles, while in sediment samples the dominant form was fragment with a particle number ranging from 765 particles. The dominant color in the water and sediment samples was black microplastics. The dominant size in both the water samples and samples at all locations was 0.5-1 mm. The relationship between variables (pH, Temperature, Distance) to the abundance of microplastics in water samples based on the results of analysis using Negative binomial regression on water samples using pH, temperature, and distance variables has not shown a significant relationship with microplastic abundance. This is because the resulting p-value is > 0.05, namely at pH (P-value 0.9787), Temperature (P-value 0.5788) and distance (P-value 0.1183). Meanwhile, the relationship between variables (pH, Temperature, Distance) with microplastic abundance in sediment samples based on the results of the analysis using negative binomial regression is that the pH variable shows a significant negative relationship with microplastic abundance with a p-value of 0.002035 (<0.05), while for distance and temperature has not shown a significant relationship with microplastic abundance. This is because the resulting p-value is > 0.05, namely at Temperature (P-value 0.101452), and distance (P-value 0.574982). | |
