Kompetensi Sosial Tutor Terhadap Interaksi Edukatif Warga Belajar di Program Kesetaraan Paket C PKBM Kartini Jember

Abstract

This research was motivated by the importance of tutors' social competence in fostering effective educational interactions in the Package C Equivalency Program at PKBM Kartini Jember. The research aimed to describe the tutors' social competence in supporting educational interactions among learners. A qualitative approach was employed, with participants selected through purposive sampling, consisting of one tutor, three learners as key informants, and one PKBM operator as a supporting informant. This research was conducted at PKBM Kartini, located at Jl. Mangga No. 30, Tempurejo Village, Tempurejo District, Jember Regency, East Java using a purposive area sampling method to determine the location. Data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data trustworthiness was ensured through prolonged engagement, increased persistence, and source, technique, and time triangulation. The findings indicate that tutors' social competence plays a significant role in creating conducive educational interactions. Objectivity was reflected in fair, inclusive, and learner-centered treatment. Effective communication was demonstrated through the use of simple language, clear intonation, and digital media, while adaptability was shown by adjusting to the diverse backgrounds and characteristics of learners. These competencies enhanced learners' participation, confidence in asking questions and engaging in discussions, and communication between tutors and learners. Although differences in digital literacy and understanding of written messages posed challenges, tutors addressed them by simplifying information and providing opportunities for open discussion. Therefore, tutors' social competence is a key factor in supporting effective educational interactions in the Package C Equivalency Program at PKBM Kartini Jember.
