Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology has significantly influenced various aspects of life, including education. Schools are required to integrate technology into learning processes to improve educational service quality and develop students’ digital literacy skills. However, challenges such as limited infrastructure, low digital competence of teachers, and insufficient managerial support remain obstacles to digital transformation. This study aimed to analyze the principal’s management strategies, the implementation of digitalization programs, and the supporting and inhibiting factors in improving digital-based educational service quality at SDN Banjarsengon 02. This research employed a qualitative descriptive approach with a case study design. Data were collected through observation, semistructured interviews, documentation, and questionnaires. The participants included the principal, teachers, students, parents, and school committee members. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings revealed that the principal implemented management functions consisting of planning, organizing, actuating, and controlling. Digitalization was carried out through four main programs: QR-code-based online attendance, online teaching journals, a Learning Management System (LMS), and digital classrooms. The implementation was supported by digital facilities and strengthened through the development of students’ digital character and ethics. Questionnaire results indicated that the quality of digital-based educational services achieved a score of 91.44%, categorized as “Very Good.” Supporting factors included the principal’s digital competence, teachers’ willingness to learn, and support from parents and stakeholders. Meanwhile, limited internet access, electricity disruptions, and inadequate digital devices were identified as inhibiting factors. In conclusion, the principal’s management has successfully improved the quality of digital-based educational services at SDN Banjarsengon 02 through systematic management practices and sustainable digitalization programs.
