Abstract
ABSTRA K
Soedarsono Pasuruan. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui wawancara, observasi,
pemeriksaan fisik, dan dokumentasi selama tiga hari. Intervensi yang diberikan
berupa terapi pursed lips breathing sebanyak 5 kali dan aromaterapi eucalyptus
selama 15 menit setiap hari. Hasil : Berdasarkan pengkajian, pasien PPOK
mengeluh sesak napas disertai takipnea (frekuensi napas 28 kali/menit), saturasi
oksigen 94%, fase ekspirasi memanjang, penggunaan otot bantu pernapasan, serta
bunyi wheezing.
aromaterapi eucalyptus (15 menit) selama tiga hari berturut-turut.
penurunan frekuensi napas menjadi 20 kali/menit, peningkatan saturasi oksigen
terapi medis.
ABSTRACT
Introduction: Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is a chronic lung
disease that often presents nursing challenges in the form of ineffective breathing
patterns due to persistent airflow obstruction. One nonpharmacological
intervention that can be provided is pursed-lip breathing therapy and eucalyptus
aromatherapy. The objective of this case study is to describe the application of
pursed-lip breathing therapy and eucalyptus aromatherapy in addressing
ineffective breathing patterns in COPD patients. Methods: The method used was a
case study employing a nursing process approach on one COPD client at Dr. R.
Soedarsono General Hospital in Pasuruan. Data collection was conducted through
interviews, observations, physical examinations, and documentation over three
days. The interventions provided consisted of pursed-lip breathing therapy
administered 5 times and eucalyptus aromatherapy for 15 minutes daily. Results:
Results: Based on the assessment, the COPD patient complained of shortness of
breath accompanied by tachypnea (respiratory rate of 28 breaths per minute),
oxygen saturation of 94%, prolonged expiratory phase, use of accessory
respiratory muscles, and wheezing. Through data analysis, these signs led to the
determination of the primary nursing diagnosis of ineffective breathing pattern. The
planned intervention was nonpharmacological airway management, implemented
through Pursed Lips Breathing therapy (5 times) and eucalyptus aromatherapy (15
minutes) for three consecutive days. The final evaluation results showed significant
improvement in the patient’s condition, marked by a decrease in respiratory rate to
20 breaths per minute, an increase in oxygen saturation to 98%, the cessation of
accessory muscle use, and the resolution of shortness of breath and wheezing,
indicating that most of the respiratory pattern outcome indicators in the SLKI had
been effectively achieved. Conclusion: of this case study indicates that pursed-lip
breathing therapy and eucalyptus aromatherapy are effective in helping to address
ineffective breathing patterns in COPD patients. This therapy can be used as a safe,
easy-to-implement, non-pharmacological nursing intervention that can be
combined with other therapies., Pursed-Lip Breathing, Eucalyptus Aromatherapy,
