Abstract

Introduction: Preeclampsia is a pregnancy complication that can affect a mother’s physical and psychological health. Mothers with preeclampsia are at risk of experiencing psychosocial problems, such as emotional stress, anxiety, depression, and psychological distress resulting from a high-risk pregnancy. This study aims to analyze the psychosocial conditions of mothers with preeclampsia through a literature review. Method: The study employed a literature review, with articles retrieved from the PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar databases. The articles included were those published between 2021 and 2026. Article selection was conducted using the PRISMA diagram with inclusion criteria based on the PEOS approach. Based on the selection results, 10 articles meeting the inclusion criteria were identified and analyzed further. Results: The literature review showed that psychosocial conditions in women with preeclampsia are influenced by emotional stress, socioeconomic conditions, and social support during pregnancy. Women with preeclampsia often experience anxiety, stress, depression, fear, and psychological pressure due to high-risk pregnancy conditions. In addition, socioeconomic factors such as education, occupation, and access to healthcare services also affect the mother’s condition during pregnancy. Social support from family and healthcare workers plays an important role in reducing anxiety and maintaining the mother’s psychological well-being. Conclusion: This study found that the Psychosocial conditions in women with preeclampsia are influenced by several factors, including emotional stress, socioeconomic conditions, and social support during pregnancy. Therefore, the management of preeclampsia should not only focus on the mother’s physical condition but also pay attention to psychological and social aspects comprehensively.
