Abstract
Spatial ability is a ability that students must possess to understand geometry
material. Students with low spatial ability will have difficulty working on geometry
problems, cannot predict the construction of 3D objects when viewed from a certain
point of view, and have difficulty integrating the visual part in the side of the 3D
shapes. The application of Augmented Reality technology such as Assemblr Edu
which is integrated with traditional snacks can be a solution to improve students'
spatial abilities. This research aims to describe the process and results of
developing a geometry book integrated with traditional snacks and Augmented
reality to improve students’ spatial abilities with valid, practical, and effective
criteria. The research employed a research and development method using the
ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) with
Implementation using the quasi-experiment method. The methods of data collection
was included questionnaires and tests. The research instruments used validation
sheets, student response questionnaires, readability test sheets, and spatial ability
tests that had been validated. The geometry book utilized Assemblr Edu for 3D
object visualization and integrated traditional snacks as a spatial representation.
It was designed based on spatial ability indicators: spatial perception, spatial
visualization, and mental rotation. Trials were conducted with ninth-grade
students, involving experimental and control classes. Data analysis revealed the
book met validity criteria of 2.84 (3 scales), practicality (81.7%), and effectiveness
in improving students' spatial abilities, with the average N-Gain being 0.56 and
93.8% of students having at least moderate spatial ability. Statistical analysis
indicated a significant impact of using the AR-based geometry book on students'
spatial ability. Thus, the Augmented Reality integrated geometry book with
traditional snacks effectively enhances students’ spatial abilities. Future research
recommends exploring other applications to support geometry learning based on
Augmented Reality.
