Abstract

This study examines the effect of compost fertilizer dosage and watering interval on the growth and yield of green spinach (Amaranthus tricolor L). The main problem raised is the decline in spinach productivity due to declining soil quality and lack of organic nutrients. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of compost fertilizer dosage and watering interval as well as the interaction of these two factors on the growth and yield of green spinach. The method used in this study is a factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with two factors: compost dosage (0; 0.10; 0.20; and 0.30 kg/polybag) and watering frequency (every 1, 2, and 3 days). The research results showed that a highly significant different interaction between compost application and watering on the variables of plant height, fresh weight, leaf area and edible portion. The best treatment combination was found to be watering once a day with a compost dosage of 0.30 kg/polybag, which resulted in an average plant height of 46.67 cm and a fresh weight of 94.00 grams.
