Abstract
This study aims to determine the potential hydrocarbon reserves in Well X within a new interval, following a decline in production from previous operations after 15 years of production. Well X located in the North Java Sea. The methodology involves the evaluation of core and log data, as well as the calculation of Original Oil in Place (OOIP) using both the volumetric method and Monte Carlo simulation for calculate oil reserves. The analysis indicates that the target zone for the new interval are Zone 4 at a depth 4428-4432 ft and Zone 6 located at a depth of 4,536–4,545 ft. The regression analysis examining the relationship between porosity and permeability yields a strong correlation coefficient of R^2=0,8478, approaching 1. The cementation exponent (m) under ambient conditions is 1,73, whereas under an overburden pressure of 2,400 psig, it increases to 1,84. The saturation exponent (n) is determined to be 1,85, indicating that the rock formation is water-wet. Cut-off values of shale volume ≤0.4, effective porosity ≥0,1 and water saturation ≤0,6 are applied to delineate the net pay or new productive zone. Reserves calculations for the new interval using the volumetric method yield an estimated OOIP of 3,84 MMBO at zone 4 and 7,78 at zone 6 MMBO. Meanwhile, the Monte Carlo simulation yields 7.67 MMBO for P90, 11.41 MMBO for P50, and 16.27 MMBO for P10 in zone 6.
