This research aims to analyze the effects of Sir Alec Nichols’ wife’s bad habits on his life in Sidney Sheldon’s novel Bloodline. The study focuses on how the wife’s behavior influences Sir Alec Nichols’ personal life, emotional condition, family relationships, and social circumstances. Bad habits in this research refer to negative behaviors and attitudes that may create conflict, disappointment, and difficulties within a marital relationship. This research employs a qualitative descriptive method, using Bloodline as the primary source of data. The data are collected through close reading, note-taking, and identification of relevant dialogues, narrative descriptions, and events involving Sir Alec Nichols and his wife. The analysis is conducted by interpreting the selected passages and relating them to relevant literary theories, particularly characterization and conflict, as well as psychological perspectives on interpersonal relationships. The discussion examines the ways in which the wife’s behavior affects Sir Alec Nichols’ thoughts, feelings, decisions, and interactions with other characters. It also considers how marital conflict contributes to the development of the plot and reveals the complexity of relationships among the characters. Through this analysis, the research seeks to demonstrate that negative behavior within marriage can create emotional tension, weaken mutual trust, and influence an individual’s responses to personal and social challenges. Furthermore, the study highlights the importance of understanding characterization and interpersonal conflict in interpreting the experiences of literary figures. In conclusion, the effects of the wife’s bad habits on Sir Alec Nichols’ life can be explored through the conflicts and consequences presented in the novel. This research is expected to contribute to a deeper understanding of characterization, marital conflict, and the representation of personal relationships in Sidney Sheldon’s Bloodline.
