| dc.description.abstract | Marine tourism on Menjangan Island, Bali, offers strong potential due to its extensive coral reefs and rich underwater biodiversity. This study develops an innovative glass-bottom tourist boat optimized for local operating conditions. A quantitative design approach was applied, including route analysis, passenger demand forecasting using the Holt-Winters Exponential Smoothing method, parametric ship design, resistance and propulsion calculations, stability assessment, and seakeeping evaluation based on Motion Sickness Incidence (MSI) and Motion Induced Interruptions (MII). The proposed vessel, KM. BERIMAN, accommodates 20 passengers and 5 crew members, with principal dimensions of 20.28 m LOA, 19.5 m LPP, 5.1 m breadth, 2.4 m depth, and 1.5 m draft. Resistance analysis using the Holtrop method estimated a propulsion requirement of 9.443 kW at a service speed of 5.3 knots, leading to the selection of a 10 kW Bellmarine Drive Master electric motor powered by eight 48 V 105 Ah LiFePO₄ batteries. Stability evaluation under five loading conditions satisfied IMO and BKI criteria, with GMt values between 1.129 m and 1.156 m. Seakeeping results showed acceptable heave and pitch responses, while roll exceeded operational limits only in beam-sea conditions with significant wave heights above 1.25 m. Overall, the design provides a safe, stable, environmentally friendly solution for sustainable marine tourism. | |
