Abstract

This research was conducted to determine the characteristics of the topsoil and subsoil layers on the Rayap coffee plantation land in Afdelling based on resistivity values using the 2D resistivity geoelectric method with the Wenner – Schlumberger configuration. Measurements were conducted on several tracks with different topographic conditions, namely valleys, flat areas, and slopes. The resulting data is pseudo-resistivity data that is processed using RES2DINV software to obtain a subsurface resistivity cross-section. The inversion results show that low to medium resistivity values are found in the thicker topsoil layer in valley areas, while in flat and sloping areas the topsoil layer is relatively thinner and followed by a subsoil layer with a high resistivity value. The more resistive subsoil layer is interpreted as a denser and coarser-textured material. These conditions affect the development of the coffee plant's root system and impact the level of plant productivity. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that valley areas have more optimal soil conditions for the growth and productivity of Rayap coffee plants compared to flat and sloping areas. The geoelectric resistivity method has proven effective in identifying variations in subsurface soil conditions related to coffee plantation productivity.
