Abstract

This research aimed to determine the differences in critical thinking skills using Discovery Learning and problem based learning models (case study on the basics of marketing subject for class X marketing at SMKN 1 Jember). This study used the entire population of class X PM. The sample selection process uses purposive sampling technique. The research method used is a quantitative method using a quasi-experimental design. The technique used to collect critical thinking ability data is a test. The research results showed that data analysis used the Independent Sample T-test with a significance level of 0.05. The calculation results obtained were 0.000 < 0.05 with 5.031 > 2.208, which means there is a significant influence. From these results it can be concluded that there is a significant difference in critical thinking abilities between the experimental class which uses the problem-based learning model and the control class which uses the discovery learning model. For educators in basic marketing subjects, the Problem Based Learning learning model can be applied and adapted to students and the material being studied
