Adaptasi Sosial Gamers Mobile Legends Dalam Menghadapi Dinamika Interaksi Komunitas Di Warung Bonorowo Desa Seduri Mojokerto

Abstract

As a popular online game, Mobile Legends gives rise to social dynamics shaped by disparities in skill levels, ranking systems, communication patterns, and norms evolving within the community. These conditions require players to engage in social adaptation to gain acceptance, maintain relationships, and remain part of the community. This study aims to describe and analyze the forms of social adaptation employed by Mobile Legends gamers in navigating community interaction dynamics at Warung Bonorowo in Seduri Village, Mojokerto. Interaction dynamics within the Mobile Legends community are shaped by standards of gameplay competence, tier systems, communication skills, and group acceptance. Faced with these conditions, gamers employ various forms of social adaptation depending on the situation. Most informants demonstrate conformity by improving their gameplay skills, refining their communication, and adhering to community norms to gain group recognition. Others engage in innovation by using alternative strategies to achieve their goals, while some exhibit ritualism by continuing to play without focusing on performance improvement. Additionally, forms of retreatism manifested as reduced community involvement under social pressure and rebellion seen in the formation of new playgroups with distinct values ​​and rules were also observed. These findings indicate that social adaptation is a dynamic process and a crucial mechanism for gamers to maintain social relationships and sustain their participation within the community.
