This study analyzes IKEA's motivation as a multinational corporation in addressing child labor practices within its global supply chain. The issue of child labor in global production networks demonstrates the challenges faced by multinational corporations in balancing business interests with social responsibility. IKEA was selected as the research object because the company has developed supply chain governance mechanisms through policies, supplier standards, and monitoring systems to prevent labor violations within its production networks. This study employs a qualitative approach with a single embedded explanatory case study design, using secondary data obtained from corporate policy documents, IKEA sustainability reports, international organization publications, and academic literature. The analytical framework incorporates Liberalism, International Political Economy, Multinational Corporation, Global Supply Chain Governance, and Corporate Branding. The findings reveal that IKEA's motivation in addressing child labor is shaped by three interconnected dimensions: maintaining its reputation as a responsible global brand, ensuring business sustainability and stakeholder trust, responding to global supply chain governance demands that emphasize corporate due diligence and social accountability. The study concludes that multinational corporations efforts to address child labor are not solely driven by ethical commitment, but are also influenced by reputational considerations, business interest, and the development of global governance standards within international political economy.
