Abstract

The Malangsari plantation in Kebonrejo Village, Kalibaru Subsdrict, Banyuwangi Regency is a vast area dominated by robusta coffee (Coffea cenephora). This study aims to analyze soil quality bioindicators based on the diversity and structure of soil nemarode communities,examine how their community structure harmonies with the soil’s chemical and physical properties. This research was conducted from November 2025 to February 2026, encompassing soil sampling, soil extraction, and nematode identification. Data on nematode communities were analysed using the Shannon-Wiener Indeks (H’), the Plant Parasitis Indeks (PPI), the Maturity Indeks (MI), and the PPI/MI rasio. These were then aligned with the analysis of the soil’s physical and chemical properties. The study identified five orders, 15 families, and 17 genera of nematodes (121 individuals in total). Non-parasitic group dominated the land, particulary the Nygolaimus genus as omnivore, which plays a key role in the nutrient cycle and balance of food webs in the soil. Analysis of the nematode community indices included the H’ = 1,16 (moderate), PPI = 3,62 (high parasitism), MI = 3,85, and PPI/MI rasio = 0,93 (low disturbance). Abiotic condition showed a pH of 7,2 (neutral to basic), a sandy clay texture and a very high P2O5 content, as well as low levels of K2O, C-organic, N-totals, and low C/N rasio. Overall, the soil quality is moderate. The nematode community structure is in harmony with the abiotic properties, wieth dominance of free living nematodes reducing the parasite population to maintain ecosystem sustainability. The results of the validation of the booklet as an information and educational medium showed a validation value of 83,5% with a category of highly suitable for use.
