Pemberdayaan Masyarakat dalam Upaya Peningkatan Pendapatan Keluarga di Desa Sumengko Kabupaten Nganjuk

Abstract

The development of the times and globalization has had a significant impact on the increasing needs of society, which in turn has contributed to the rising poverty rate. Sumengko Village, located in Nganjuk Regency, is one of the areas with a low level of welfare, as most of its residents rely on seasonal agriculture with unstable income. To address this issue, a community empowerment strategy has been implemented through the home-based shuttlecock production industry. This industry has proven effective in increasing income, creating job opportunities, and enhancing the skills and self-reliance of the local community.This study aims to describe the process of community empowerment as an effort to improve family income in Sumengko Village. The research location was selected purposively at UD. "Abadi Shuttlecock", with key informants including the director and manager of the home industry, and supporting informants consisting of community members directly involved in the production process. Data collection techniques included interviews, observation, and documentation, while data validity was tested through prolonged engagement, increased persistence, and triangulation.Data analysis in this study used the descriptive qualitative model by Miles and Huberman, which includes the stages of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The research findings show that community empowerment was carried out in three stages: (1) Enabling, by creating a conducive work environment through a family-based approach and exploring the community’s potential and needs through discussions and deliberations; (2) Empowering, by strengthening community potential through training and mentoring in the shuttlecock production process; and (3) Protecting, by providing a flexible and fair work system to ensure family economic sustainability.This empowerment has resulted in increased family income, the availability of permanent jobs, more stable earnings, and a reduced economic burden. It can be concluded that the empowerment activities through these three stages have been effective in improving community welfare. For further development, it is recommended that the village government and LSM provide support, particularly in terms of access to funding and the expansion of digital-based marketing. In addition, the community is encouraged to continuously enhance their skills and entrepreneurial spirit in order to seize available economic opportunities.
