Abstract

Background: Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus causes unstable blood glucose levels. Nurses have an important role in providing professional nursing implementation to patients safely, carefully, and competently in the form of nursing care according to the patient's condition. This research aims to identify nursing implementation in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus patients with unstable of blood glucose levels in hospitalized at RSD dr. Soebandi Jember. Methods: This research was a quantitative study with a retrospective approach. The sampling technique was purposive sampling, with a total of 93 samples. Data collection was based on secondary data of medical records, which were then analyzed and presented in percentages. Result: The results showed the most common nursing implementations at RSD dr. Soebandi Jember were monitoring blood glucose levels (93.5%) and collaborating in intravenous fluid administration (93.5%). Other implementations were identifying signs and symptoms of hyperglycemia and hypoglycemia, monitoring pulse frequency, encouraging compliance with diet and exercise, consulting with medical professionals if the conditions worsened, providing complex carbohydrates and protein according to the prescribed diet, managing diabetes, collaborating on insulin administration, and administering 10% dextrose. Additionally, some implementations were not carried out due to a lack of knowledge and skills among nurses, as well as time constraints due to high patient load. Conclusion: This research provides insights for nurses to enhance their skills in delivering nursing care to Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus patients with unstable of blood glucose levels.
