Biology learning in senior high schools still tends to emphasize concept mastery, providing limited opportunities for students to develop analytical thinking and moral reasoning skills. One learning strategy that can address this issue is the Socio-Scientific Issues (SSI) strategy, which integrates scientific concepts with real-life social issues. This study aimed to: (1) analyze the effect of the Socio-Scientific Issues (SSI) strategy on students' analytical thinking skills in the topic of Hormones in Human Reproduction; and (2) analyze the effect of the Socio-Scientific Issues (SSI) strategy on students' moral reasoning in the same topic. This study employed a quasi-experimental method using a Posttest-Only Control Group Design. The population consisted of all eleventh-grade students at SMA Negeri Kalisat. The samples were selected using cluster random sampling, resulting in Class XI.9 as the experimental group, which was taught using the Socio-Scientific Issues (SSI) strategy, and Class XI.5 as the control group, which received instruction through the Discovery Learning model. The research instruments included an analytical thinking test, a moral reasoning questionnaire, an observation sheet for learning implementation, and documentation. The data were analyzed using the normality test, homogeneity test, and Mann-Whitney U test. The results showed that the Socio-Scientific Issues (SSI) strategy had a significant effect on students' analytical thinking skills (Z = −6.488, p < 0.001). The experimental group achieved a mean score of 91, which was higher than the control group's mean score of 68. The SSI strategy also had a significant effect on students' moral reasoning (Z = −6.760, p < 0.001). The experimental group obtained a mean score of 64.34, whereas the control group achieved a mean score of 38.20. It can be concluded that the Socio-Scientific Issues (SSI) strategy is more effective than the Discovery Learning model in improving students' analytical thinking skills and moral reasoning on the topic of Hormones in Human Reproduction.
