Analisis Keberlanjutan Usahatani Padi Sawah di Kecamatan Tarik Kabupaten Sidoarjo

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the sustainability level of rice farming in Tarik District, Sidoarjo Regency, and to identify the most sensitive attributes affecting its sustainability. A quantitative descriptive approach was employed using the RAP-Farm (Rapid Appraisal for Farming) method, a modification of RAP-Fish, through Multidimensional Scaling (MDS) analysis. The study utilized both primary data obtained from interviews and questionnaires distributed to 44 rice farmers, and secondary data from relevant institutions such as the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) and the Department of Agriculture of Sidoarjo Regency. The results show that the sustainability status of rice farming in Tarik District is categorized as moderately sustainable, with a multidimensional index value of 51.74. The sustainability indices by dimension are: ecology 51.52, economy 51.35, social 53.96, institutional 46.22, and technology 55.65. The institutional dimension represents the weakest aspect due to limited farmer participation in farmer groups and the low frequency of agricultural extension activities, while the technological dimension is the strongest, supported by the increasing use of modern agricultural tools and superior rice varieties. Sensitive attributes that influence sustainability include the availability of irrigation, sources of capital, discussions between farmers, community participation in farm planning meetings, and the influence of technology on crop yields. To enhance the sustainability of rice farming, the study suggests strengthening farmer institutions, improving continuous extension programs, and implementing government policies that support farmland protection and production efficiency.
