Abstract

Laundry wastewater contains phosphate, which poses a significant environmental risk. This study investigates the effectiveness of the batch adsorption process using activated carbon and activated zeolite in removing phosphate concentrations from laundry wastewater. The initial phosphate concentration in the wastewater was 5.19 mg/L. The adsorption process was conducted using various mass ratios of activated carbon and zeolite (25:75, 50:50, and 75:25) and different zeolite activators (HCl and KOH). The lowest phosphate concentration of 1.84 mg/L was achieved with a 25:75 mass ratio of activated carbon and zeolite activated by KOH, resulting in a phosphate removal efficiency of 64.5%. Statistical analysis using Two-ways ANOVA showed that the mass ratio of adsorbents significantly impacted the phosphate removal, with a p-value of 1,1 × 10-6
