| dc.description.abstract | Attacks by leaf-boring pests on pak choi (Brassica rapa L.) can reduce both quality and yield; therefore, environmentally friendly control measures utilising parasitoids are required. This study aimed to determine the composition of Hymenoptera parasitoids associated with pak choi leaf-boring pests and their parasitism rates at two locations: the Agrotechnopark of the University of Jember and Sukorambi Sub-district. The study was conducted using a purposive random sampling method, collecting pakcoy leaves exhibiting leaf-mining symptoms. The samples were then reared until parasitoids emerged and identified based on morphological characteristics. Data were analysed using the Shannon–Wiener diversity index, similarity index, Simpson’s dominance index, parasitism rate, and the Independent Sample T-Test. The results showed that four genera of Hymenoptera parasitoids were found, namely Opius, Elasmus, Cirrospilus and Quadrastichus, with a total of 35 parasitoid individuals. The University of Jember Agrotechnopark site had three genera of parasitoids, whilst the Sukorambi site had two genera. The parasitoid diversity index values were relatively low at both locations, namely 0.972 at the University of Jember’s Agroteknologi and 0.637 at Sukorambi. In this study, no leaf-mining insects were found on the pak choi leaf samples, this is thought tobe due to evirontmental factor and the effects of chemical pesticides. The similarity index value of 40% between the two sites indicates a different composition of parasitoids. The results of the Independent Sample T-Test showed no significant difference in the number of parasitoids found at the two study sites (Sig. = 0.890). The results of this study indicate that the pak choi agroecosystems at both sites harbour parasitoid communities that have the potential to be utilised as biological control agents in support of the implementation of Integrated Pest Management (IPM). | |
