Analisis Kemiskinan Multidimensi di Jawa Timur

Abstract

Poverty is a multidimensional development problem, which is not only characterized by low income levels, but also limited access to education, basic facilities, and economic resources. Although economic growth in East Java Province continues to increase, this province is still one of the areas with the largest number of poor people on the island of Java. This condition shows that economic growth has not been able to reduce the problem of poverty evenly at all levels of society. This study aims to analyze the influence of education, asset ownership, access to facilities, and the number of family members on multidimensional poverty in East Java Province. This study uses an inferential quantitative approach with secondary data sourced from SUSENAS KOR Year 2024. The research sample amounted to 395 households selected using the random sampling technique. The analysis method used is multiple linear regression (Ordinary Least Square / OLS). The results of the study show that simultaneously the variables of education, asset ownership, access to facilities, and the number of family members have a significant effect on multidimensional poverty in East Java. Partially, asset ownership and access to facilities have a negative and significant effect, while the number of family members has a positive and significant effect on multidimensional poverty. Meanwhile, education has a positive but insignificant effect. These findings indicate that improving education has not been able to fully reduce the multidimensional poverty rate due to the still dominance of the informal sector, low quality of work, and inequality of economic access in East Java Province.
