dc.description.abstractBackground: Ulcer is a pathological condition in tissues or organs that undergo surface excavationdue to necrotic tissue exfoli ation. One of ulcer etiology is trauma. The ulcer caused by trauma is called traumatic ulcer. The prevalence of traumatic ulcer in Indonesia is quite high about 6.5% of 766 patients. Traumatic ulcer is always related to the wound healing process. Treatment of traumatic ulcers usually uses immunosuppressive, anti-inflammatory, and corti costeroid drugs. This treatment can frequent tri gger side effects to patient. Otherwise the price of treatment i s quite expensive. Cocoa beans have chemical components such as flavonoids, epicatechins, catechins, theobromins, and caffeine. These components are assumed to have potential effect i n the wound healing process. Objective: The aim of this study was to determine the potential cocoa seed extract as an alternative remedy for the traumatic ulcers. Conclusion: The chemical component cocoa beans extract indicated affect on traumatic ulcers healing. Therefore, in the future this plant medicine can be used as an alternative remedy for the traumatic ulcers. This treatment will be notably expected to have high efficacy and l ow side effects.en_US
