dc.description.abstract | One alternative way to increase the production of bioethanol in molasses media is to give
agitation and aeration during fermentation process. The aims of this research was to evaluate the
highest ethanol production with agitation and aeration treatment. The research were designed with
two treatment, aeration rate (0,1;0,3; and 0,6 vvm) and agitation speed (100, 200 and 300 rpm).
Microbial concentration, reduction sugar content and ethanol production were observed every 4 hour
interval for 24 hours. The results showed that during fermentation occured increasing of microbial
concentration, decreasing of sugar content and increasing of ethanol production. Fermentation with
agitation speed 100 rpm and aeration rate 0,3 vvm showed the highest ethanol production by 5,43%
and microbial concentration around 4,07 g/L. Based on this study, the aeratioon rate treatment was
significant to influence ethanol content, but the agitation speed was not significant to influence
content of ethanol. | en_US |
