Background: Pain is an unpleasant sensory and emotional experience relating to the damage of tissue, either it is actually or potentially pain. A material alternative which has potential within the process of pain inhibition is that clove leaves. The clove leaves contain chemical contents such as eugenol, saponins, flavonoids and tannins. Objective: The aim of this study was to recognize the extract of clove leaves as the analgesic in male balb-c mice with writhing reflex method. Materials and Methods: Animal models (mice) were divided into 5 groups: negative control group(K1) was treated with CMC 0.5%, the positive control group (K2) was treated with aspirin, group K3 was treated with clove leaf extract 1%, K4 group was treated with clove leaf extract 2%, and the K5 group was treated with leaf extract cloves 4%. The materials of treatment were given at mice by oral route. Mice were given 0.6% of acetic acid injection to stimulate pain at mice after treatmen. The measurement of analgesic effect can be seen through the number of stretches (writhing reflex) happened to mice. Results: One way anova test showed that there were significant differences among all of group. Conclusions: Clove leaves extract had a potential as analgesic which can reduce the number of writhing at mice.en_US
