dc.description.abstract | From the results of classroom observation in the form of checklist in Cycle 1, it was found that the average percentage of the students’ active participation in the first and the second meeting was 58.10%. It seemed that the observation results in Cycle 1 did not achieve the criteria in this research. Meanwhile, the results of reading comprehension test in Cycle 1, it was found that the percentage of the students who achieve the minimum requirement standard score of 75 was 72% or 27 students of 37 students in the class. It means that the results of reading comprehension achievement in Cycle 1 did not achieve the research target requirement.
From the results of Cycle 1, the researcher conducted Cycle 2 after having some revisions to solve the problems found in Cycle 1. From some revisions problems in Cycle 1, the results of Cycle 2 showed some improvements. In Cycle 2, it was found the results of students’ active participation in the first and second meeting was 75.22%. Then, the results of students’ reading comprehension achievement was 89% or 33 students. It means, there was an improvement from Cycle 1 to Cycle 2. So, the second cycle was stopped.
Based on the results of the research, it could be concluded that the implementation of Collaborative Strategic Reading was able to improve class VIII F students’ active participation and their reading comprehension achievement of recount text at SMP Negeri 1 Gumukmas in the academic year 2015/2016. It is also suggested to the English teacher to apply Collaborative Strategic Reading in the class when teaching reading in order to improve their students’ reading comprehension achievement. It is allowed the students to work cooperatively with their members of the groups. | en_US |
