dc.description.abstract | Translation consists of transferring the meaning of the source language
into the receptor language. To make a good translation result, translators need to
apply translation procedures. This study concerns to find out the translation
procedures in the process of translation in Chapter One of a novel entitled
Allegiant written by Roth and its Indonesian version translated by Aini and Asni.
The analysis is based on Newmark’s theory of the translation procedures.
The research objective is to analyze the process of translation, the
translation procedures, and the evaluation of the translation results in Chapter One
of Allegiant. There are several steps to analyze the data. First step is to analyze the
sentences by using theory of the process of translation (Nida). Then, elaborate the
translation procedures by using theory of the translation procedures (Newmark).
Finally, evaluate the translation results by using the definition and the best criteria
of translation (Larson).
The data are all the sentences in Chapter One of Allegiant. This study uses
both document review and purposive sampling as the method of data collection. In
addition, this research belongs to qualitative research. Furthermore, the result of
this research proves that there are several translation procedures applied by the
translators to produce the appropriate meanings and natural forms in the receptor language. | en_US |
