    Abstract
Popular Scientific Papers is papers based on scientific method, but it is presented using gene language that easy to understand by people and interesting layout. Shigella dysentriae is pathog bacteria causing bacillary dysentery. Shigella dysentriae became resistance to several antibiotics. M difficult to inhibit its growth. The alternative solution of this problem is using natural material, such ambon banana (Musaparadisiaca var. sapientum (L.) Kunt.) peel. Active substance content predi:' as antimicrobial are flavonoid. The purpose of this research is to know antimicrobial potency ambon banana (Musa paradisiaca var. sapientum (L.) Kunt.) peel extract. Maseration technique • used to get extract using ethanol as solvent. This research is included in laboratories experimer. research and using diffusion method. Concentrations of ambon banana peel extract used are 1%. 5 10%, 15%, 20%, 25%, 30%, 35%, 40%, 45%, and 50%. The result of observation showed an* banana (Musa paradisiaca var. sapientum (L.) Kunt.) peel extract can inhibit the Shigella dysentr. growth start from concentration 10% until 50%. The conclusion from this research is ambon ban.; (Musa paradisiaca var. sapientum (L.) Kunt.) peel extract has antimicrobial effect toShige dysentriae with minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) is 10%.
