Ceramic cup tensiometer is the mostly used instrument in determining soil water tension (SWT) in laboratory as well as in field work, beside gipsblock. The objective of the experiment was to:(a). produce ceramic candle which fulfilled technical requirements in measuring field SWT, (b) combine it with gypsum and zeolite in the form of Powder Matrix Sensor (PMS) for field measurement of the SWT. Analysis has been done for (a) orosity of the ceramic candle(b)sensitivity of sensor made of gypsum and gypsum-zeolite. Ceramic candle made of Kaolin clay mixed with husk charcoal with treatments 4, 8, 12, 16, and 20 g/100g Kaolin. All treatments were heated with earth oil versus Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG).Laboratory experiment has been carried out with ring packed Inceptisols. Sensors inserted to the ring for collecting soil water tension data. The best quality of ceramic cup has been obtained with adding of 20g charcoal/100g kaolin and heated with LPG, which are then has been used for further tested sensors.
