dc.description.abstractResidence requirement is a primary need for humans. The increasing number of people in each year resulted in an increased need for residence requirement. Increased residence requirement can be changed the function of agricultural lands, forests, and other areas into new residential land. This problem has also become one of the focus floating in Jember. Not all land in Jember district deserves to be residential land. Considerations determining optimal land suitability for residential areas using various parameters such as slope, vulnerability to disasters, soil texture, soil sensitivity to erosion, accessibility, rainfall, and soil suitability lahan. Determination use in this study used Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) to get a weight value to each parameter. The results of this study divides Jember into 3 residential area, which is very appropriate settlement area (S1) of 18.35%, corresponding residential areas as much as 65.3%, and residential areas are not appropriate (NS) is as much as 16.36%.en_US
